Action Figure Studios The V-Front Amp

Please check out our shop policies prior to purchasing and feel free to contact us with any questions. This is a custom amp and is sold as Brand New because it has not been pre-owned. Custom guitars and amps can still show signs of light use. They can easily be played over a year or more showcasing at trade shows and sometimes even a gig or two, but have been very well kept and maintained. Thank you.
Sounds as good as it looks… killer! The V-Front Super’s were based off of the 1947 Dual Professionals, which were arguably the best sounding tweeds Fender made. This amp sports the 3 band EQ and Presence knobs found on the later 50’s models. Plenty of headroom to keep things cleaner when turning up without tearing your head off. 2×10’s are the perfect club amp and the v-front gives even better dispersion and an extra dimensional sound. A modern classic!
This amp is built to perform well on Stage or in Studio and provide excellent
tonal quality with any type of music at any level—Enjoy!

The B&D V-Front amp is built on a 5F8a chassis kit from Mojotone with
The chassis features a re-located output transformer for better weight balance
and power supply filtering, proprietary acoustic/electronic isolation treatments
to assure accurate sound transmission to the speakers, and a split V1 cathode
preamp stage to separate the channels for unique A/B/Y operation.
There are minor changes in the original circuitry, mostly in ‘tuning’ the amp for a
vintage sound. The cabinet design follows the ’48 Fender Super Twin with the
speakers oriented on an approximately 20 degree axis to provide a wide acoustic
sound field rather than the ‘single point’ of sound standard guitar amp cabinets
usually provide.
The speakers are two 10″ Eminence 8 ohm drivers; one Patriot “Lil’ Buddy”, one
Redcoat “Ramrod” wired separately and chosen to produce a full range balance
of American and British tone. The two 1/4 phone speaker outputs wired in
parallel present a 4 ohm load to the output transformer.
The tube compliment is: V1–6189: mil spec version of 12AU7 chosen for tone
and extra rigidity which minimizes any microphonic problems. The cathodes have
been specially designed to withstand many on/off cycles and long periods in cutoff
without any degradation of performance. V2–German built vintage 12AX7 by
RCA for tone and smooth breakup. V3–modern JJ 12AX7 for gain, stability and
low microphonics. V4 thru V8–Sovek 5881WXT Matched Quad. From Tube Depot:
“The Sovtek 5881 delivers a warm, round tone that sweetens any vintage or
modern guitar amp design. Built to rigid military standards, the 5881 will
tolerate higher voltages than any other 6L6. This tube is similar to its EH
cousin, but with a little more warmth and low-end.” V5–modern JJ 5AR4/GZ34S
rectifier. Solid, strongly built, tight but with a sweet ‘sag’ at high amp output
