We’ve just received a collection of beautiful new hand-crafted guitar and bass picks made from exotic natural materials, such as bone, ivory, ebony, and buffalo and deer horn. These picks, available in different shapes and sizes (see photo) are made by American Masters, a local northern Virginia business. These are serious picks for serious players, with a very noticeable difference in articulation and sound projection from standard synthetic picks. No two are exactly alike, so you need to try these before you buy and find one that suits your playing needs best. Because these picks can be re-sharpened over time, each is a long-term instrument, not a disposable accessory. Prices range from $25-$35, based on the material. We’re offering a free wood storage box with the purchase of any four picks (also pictured), and that’s a serious offer. We love these so much, we’re thinking about no longer carrying synthetic picks (actually, we’re not serious about that).

In December, The Hollies guitarist Steve Lauri, played a gig at the legendary JV’s Restaurant, our new neighbor in Falls Church. Steve stopped by Crossroads Guitar shop to check out our wares and borrowed this dreadnaught cutaway acoustic-electric from Sublime to try out at the show.
